Ten Days Down, Twenty to Go: Keep Going, Don't Give Up.
Feb 27, 2026 / 10 Ramadan 1447 Hakeem Abdur Rahman
Dear brothers and sisters,
Can you believe it? We have already completed ten days of Ramadan. Ten full days of fasting, praying, and reading Quran. Ten days of waking up for suhoor, feeling hungry during the day, breaking fast at maghrib. Ten days of Taraweeh prayers. Ten days of drawing closer to Allah.
How do you feel? Be honest with yourself.
Some of us might feel energetic and excited. "Yes! Ten days done! Twenty more to go! I can do this!"
Some of us might feel tired. "I'm exhausted. The days are long. I miss my coffee. I miss eating whenever I want. I'm running out of steam."
And some of us might feel guilty. "I started so strong, but this week I've been lazy. I missed some prayers. I didn't read much Quran. I lost focus."
Wherever you are on this spectrum, I want you to know something important: It's okay. Don't give up. Allah's mercy is bigger than your tiredness and bigger than your mistakes.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that Ramadan is a journey. And like any journey, there are ups and downs. Some days you run fast. Some days you walk slow. But the key is to keep moving. Don't stop. Don't quit.
Remember what Allah says in the Quran:
"And do not lose hope in the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins."
*(Surah Az-Zumar, 39:53)*
This verse was revealed to give hope to everyone. No matter how many days you missed, no matter how many prayers you skipped, no matter how many mistakes you made, Allah's door is always open. Just turn back to Him. Right now. Today.
We are now in the first ten days of Ramadan.
Many people feel excited.
Many people feel tired.
Many people feel hungry.
Many people feel spiritual.
But Ramadan is not only a special month — It is a training school for life.
PART 1 — RAMADAN TEACHES SELF-CONTROL
Allah says:
“Fasting has been prescribed for you so that you may gain self-control.”
— Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183
Ramadan trains us to control:
Desires
Anger
Tongue
Eyes
Ego
If Ramadan does not change behavior, it becomes only hunger.
PART 2 — RAMADAN TEACHES DISCIPLINE
Ramadan teaches:
Time management
Prayer on time
Structure in daily life
Balance between body and soul
Discipline in Ramadan should continue after Ramadan.
PART 3 — RAMADAN TEACHES COMPASSION
When we feel hunger, we understand the poor.
The Prophet ﷺ was the most generous in Ramadan.
Ramadan teaches us:
Charity
Sharing
Caring
Helping quietly
A fasting heart must be a merciful heart.
PART 4 — RAMADAN IS A MIRROR
Dear believers,
Ramadan shows us who we really are.
It reveals:
Our patience
Our anger
Our habits
Our weaknesses
Our sincerity
This is not to shame us — It is to help us grow.

Take Ramadan Beyond Ramadan
Dear brothers and sisters,
If prayer improves in Ramadan — keep it.
If the Qur'an increases in Ramadan — keep it.
If character improves in Ramadan — keep it.
Do not leave Ramadan behind when the moon leaves.
5. Keep making dua for others.
Don't forget our brothers and sisters around the world. In Palestine, in Syria, in Yemen, in Sudan, in so many places, Muslims are suffering. They are fasting too, but many are breaking their fast with little food and living in fear.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"The dua of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is INSTANTLY answered. At his head is an angel appointed, and whenever he prays for good for his brother, the angel entrusted with this says: 'Ameen, and for you the like.'"
(Muslim)
So when you make dua for others, angels make the same dua for you. Beautiful, isn't it?
A Special Reminder for Parents:
If you have children, involve them in worship. Let them see you reading Quran. Let them hear you making dua. Take them to Taraweeh, even if they get tired. Let them feel the joy of Ramadan. These memories will stay with them forever. They will grow up loving this month because you taught them to love it.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Ten days down. Twenty to go. But actually, we don't know how many we have left. None of us knows if we will see the end of Ramadan. So let's treat every day as if it's our last chance to earn Allah's pleasure.
📿 DU‘A
O Allah, make Ramadan a school for our hearts.
O Allah, change our habits for the better.
O Allah, make us better after Ramadan than before Ramadan.
O Allah, accept our fasting, prayers, and charity.
O Allah, heal the sick, help the needy, and guide the lost.
🕌 Conclusion Dear brothers & Sisters,
Ramadan is not only about one month.
It is about building a better life.
Let Ramadan change us — not just our schedule, but our hearts.
